Andrew wings

Description

Wings for Andrew's new picture reference. The body'll be taken out later; but for now, they're a good place keeper. :3

Jimuzu and I are working hard on things like the anatomy of wings. They're much harder than most people give them credit to be! And a lot of your favorite artists probably draw them all wrong, hiding behind words like 'style' and 'not perfect' for their lack of trying.

Or maybe they're ignorant. A lot of people don't really understand wings, or that their anatomy is essential if whatever they're attached to is going to actually fly with them. I didn't really even start to get it until a few months ago,

Or it might really be their style of drawing; like this fav.me/d33yuvn --which REALLY is their art style. Chibi wings are held to a completely different standard.

Whatever the reason, a lot of us are doing it wrong. WE'RE still doing it wrong, but we're trying... ^_^;

Erm...end rant? ...Yeah, end rant.

I'm a big fan of observation and reference when it coems to things like this. If there's a wildlife education centre near you, they may have some separated bird wings that you can look at (and even sometimes fold in and out) to see how the bones work and how the feathers overlap.

Just watch that you get the right sort of wing; this looks like a hawk or eagle wing, rather than, say, a gull or a finch wing.
